Some extremely sad musical news:

http://levonhelm.com/

Was lucky enough to see him 3 times in the last couple of years, and the sole Ramble I got to was a all-time experience for me.

No words, really. Just gratitude for some of the most important, and enduring, music I've ever heard.

Wow. Sad, sad news. Never got to see the full lineup with Robbie, but did see The Band sans Robbie open for the boys on a New Year's Eve and saw Levon with that lineup a handful of other times. He will be surely be missed. Nice that he got to do the ramble and play with family and friends so much these past handful of years.

Only time I got to see him was when The Band opened for the Dead 7/31,8/1/73 at Roosevelt Stadium. Such sad news. Amazing artist.

Good gravy, that must have been something.

We were really hoping to see him some time this year. I guess that won't happen. So sad.

I still am kicking myself about missing his show at the Fillmore Silver Spring, MD a while back. I actually had the tickets. I hear the shows with him, Larry Campbell, and Teresa Williams were awesome.

Levon Helm, the voice that made Clapton quit Cream.

If the Dead could have performed Tennessee Jed as good as Levon could, I might not skip past it as much.

I pray he has peace as he goes to his glory.

But it sucks and really hurts. I am completely blown away. He is one of my musical and cultural heroes. Time to watch The Last Waltz and cry.

This doc on the making of the 'Brown' album doc gives a great sense of just how much he loved the Band:

Proud of every note, as every damn one of them should be.

Haven't watched The Right Stuff in a little while. I'll have to pop that in and think about Levon
